AFDA, the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance is a film school located on a dual campus in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, and Observatory, Cape Town, South Africa.

AFDA is one of the leading outcomes based film schools in the world and is listed by the Council of Higher Education (CHE) as one of the top six private universities in South Africa. In the course of a rich entrepreneurial history dating back to 1994, AFDA has earned a reputation as one of the leading institutions of its kind in the world today.

It offers two three year undergraduate degree programmes – a Bachelors of Arts in Live Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Motion Picture and postgraduate degrees as an Honours or a Master of Fine Arts (MFA).
