5-month Certificate Program in Filmmaking (CPF)
USD 6,780

You will learn the basics required to enter the exciting world of filmmaking.

Five months is all it takes for you to develop an ideal foundation that will help you in your pursuit to become a film professional. This fast paced program is divided into two 9-week terms.

Term One tackles the basic level of Cinematography, Screenwriting, Directing, Production, Post Production, and Sound. Term Two deals with the intermediate level of filmmaking competencies. Coursework also includes an eight-hour certification workshop in Digital Video, classes in American and European cinema, and a Digital Photography course.

At the end of the 18-week course, you will have completed two short films with a crew made up of your classmates. The first is an MOS (film with no dialogue) and the second is a another short, complete with all sounds. These will be presented at special screenings, along with the other student films, at the end of every term.

In a short amount of time, every student is exposed to international standards of operations by mentors who actually work in the film industry. It's just a taste of what a professional filmmaker's life is all about. If at the end of this course you wish to develop your filmmaking abilities further, you may opt to continue you studies in the “Diploma Program in Filmmaking”.

10-month Diploma Program in Filmmaking (DPF)
USD 12,130

Start your filmmaking career in less than a year!

Students of the IAFT's “Diploma Program in Filmmaking” are completely immersed in the technical art of filmmaking through an intensive program that inspires your creativity, as well as tests your drive to complete a short film during each of the four nine-week terms.

The ten month program sharpens your knowledge about the roles within a professional film crew. Term one and Term Two cover exactly the same basic and intermediate courses as those of the “Certificate Program in Filmmaking”. Term Three, however, delves further into the organized production of only one of a few shorts chosen by mentors in a pitching process similar to that in a studio system. Term Four focuses your attention on a final project -- your thesis film -- which will be screened separately before a special graduation ceremony. This eight minute thesis can then be used as part of your professional show reel, an invaluable tool for presenting accumulated movie-making skills to industry professionals.

The diploma course also includes electives ranging from directing actors, music video production, guerilla filmmaking, documentary production, to CGI. You will have the chance to work with a 16mm camera within the context of an actual student production that incorporates the same elements of filmmaking from writing and producing, to directing and editing.

Grounded with this training, graduate filmmakers can continue to forge careers and join the ranks of those who dare to make their creative dreams come true in the film industry.

2-year Crazy Filmmaker Program: Diploma Program in Advanced Filmmaking (CFP)
Year 1 USD 11,110
Year 2 USD 10,800

Break into the film industry with the IAFT's Diploma Program in Advanced Filmmaking.

You will earn exactly what you need to know to survive in the crazy and highly competitive world of filmmaking, with the help of industry professionals in ultimate hands-on learning environment.

Students of the “Crazy Filmmaker Program” complete modular training by working as crew for real-world productions for broadcast television. This includes instruction on the use of professional equipment like the industry-praised Red One camera in projects that include reality shows, concerts, and commercials. As a finale, you are guaranteed a spot and significant participation in the making of two international feature films during this 2-year filmmaking residency program.

The First Module immerses the student in a wide range of multimedia projects including Website Design, Digital Photography, and video shoots.

The Second Module shows you how to follow the Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production steps to complete television commercials and public service announcements for real clients, with the support of Bigfoot Entertainment's state-of-the-art studios and equipment.

The Third Module exposes you to the world of Fashion TV through the production of three-minute video clips of FTV models from around the world. These segments will be aired internationally.

The Fourth Module involves learning how to prepare for multiple camera set-ups to cover live events like festivals and concerts, where the action happens live and there is only one chance to cover it well.

The Fifth Module focuses on the process involved in the production and direction of music videos. The video will be shot as a group, but students will be able to edit their own version of the project featuring actual bands and performers.

On completion of this two-year program, graduates will not only possess the skills needed to establish a career in film and television, but also take home some of the working tools required to build their professions: a MacBook Pro with Final Cut Pro, one terabyte of external hard drive and an HDV camera, all of which they receive at the start of the program for their own dedicated use.

5-month Certificate Program in Acting for the Camera (CPAC)
USD 3,010

If your passion is performing in front of the camera, then the International Academy of Film and Television can usher you into the spotlight with a short introduction to the fundamentals of acting!

The “Acting for the Camera Program” is not simply about the methods of acting, it is a holistic approach to creating believable characters for stage and screen. Beginning students are introduced to the rehearsal process, the techniques of interpreting a script, and ways of researching a character's backstory. Classes in Theatre History, Voice, Movement, and Improvisation round out the instruction given by professionally trained actors currently working in industry.

Within 2 nine-week terms, the certificate program offers acting students a chance to experience the audition process through to the completion of a short film. And, because acting and filmmaking students study on the same campus, an exciting creative synergy is forged between those involved in “behind the scenes” activity and those interested in “on-camera” work. With so many filmmakers walking around campus, there is rarely a shortage of roles for interested actors.

In the “Acting for the Camera Program”, you will learn what it takes to prepare for a role and then apply what you have learned in actual shooting conditions on set. Then, with your finished performances, you can put together an acting reel for use in auditions after graduation.

10-month Diploma Program in Acting for the Camera (DPAC)
USD 5,760

The “Diploma Program in Acting for the Camera” is a very comprehensive course of study for those who wish to invest themselves further into the acting discipline. Students progress through four 9-week terms equivalent to10 months of study in continued preparation for an international acting career. Special emphasis is placed on individual work for audition monologues, as well as additional training in musical theatre, improvisation and scene study.

From the start, you will be encouraged to participate in a minimum of four public performances, and eight student films during the course of study. All the projects emphasize the work ethic required to segue the amateur acting experience into a full-fledged performing arts career.

In addition to the regular courses of study, students in the diploma program for acting are able to tailor their education with the selection of electives in their third and fourth terms. Actors can choose from the film school's list of courses, which may include Script Analysis, Directing Actors, and Guerilla Filmmaking, in order to gain a better understanding of the team environment in any given film production.

All throughout the duration of the program, the students get the opportunity to build a strong show reel by acting in the short film projects of the filmmaking students. Acting students get the best of both worlds in front of and behind the camera at the IAFT where the unique learning environment nurtures working relationships that may develop creative collaborations even after graduation.
